Hello all,
I have been intending to post this information for some time but I
needed to verify it with the owner.
Some years ago I visited a small mechanical music museum in the Barossa
Valley, a famous wine and tourist area about an hour's drive from
Adelaide, South Australia. The district was settled in the mid 1800s by
German/Polish migrants from Silesia and the valley has prospered though
their hard work and love of good wine and music.
The museum is in the town of Lyndoch and is owned by Tom Coxall who
gives the guided tours and operates the instruments. As I recall, he
had a two cabinet Hupfeld orchestrion and a wide range of disk and
cylinder music boxes, barrel pianos, phonographs and the like. He told
me that he has recently acquired a beautiful Hupfeld Ronisch Klaviola
grand which I think has an expression system similar to a Recordo. It
is time I went back to see how it is all going!
