AIDA, International Display of Art
By Hans van Oost
I have found an interesting URL for lovers of mechanical music. It is
called AIDA, which stands for Association for International Display of
Art. The site contains high-quality pictures of mechanical musical
instruments from musical clocks to band organs. Some of them can be heard
as well. Most pictures are from museums in Europe, and most of these
from the Utrecht museum. The URL of the site is:
http://aida.net/subject.hts?showcat+musi
We have linked this page to out KDV Website, so all of you can now have a cheap
look into European museums! (-;

[ Editor's Note:
[
[ I have added this link to the MMD home page section called "New Links
[ to Interesting Places". It appears that this organization's
[ objective is to promote international tours of art objects. I have
[ not determined whether they own the objects in question or act as a
[ broker for their display. There's lots of other stuff besides
[ mechanical music on their site. I think the "visit" to their Website
[ will be fun for most of our readers.

[ P.S. For those of you who do not own or understand the technology
[ to view web pages, I must make the editorial comment that you are
[ missing out on a wonderful and enriching phenomena. There are plenty
[ of ways to "sample" the Web without spending the money. Find a friend
[ with a computer that knows how, or talk to the reference librarian at
[ your local public library. You may make a new friend and introduce
[ a new person to wonders mechanical music.
