Hello all, my name is Joel Hoshaw and this is my first posting to the
group. In response to the thread of a few days ago where an individual
is looking for a Cheney phonograph, there are several good resources on
hand-cranked phonographs on the Internet. I recently found a group
called PHONATICS at
http://members.aol.com/edisonshop/phonatics.html
It is an excellent site for info, how-to, as well as buy/sell/trade.
They do an on-line newsletter, I think about once a month. They also
archive the newsletters on-line. However, the last two times I tried
to access it the server returned an error message that the URL doesn't
exist. I was just on it last week, but I seem to recall a thread about
some difficulties they were having with AOL. I presume the site is
temporarily unavailable until that's worked out. I would suggest to
keep trying; it's well worth frequent visits.
I found MMD when I did an Internet search for +music-box+Regina. I am
interested in antique music boxes, windup phonographs, player pianos
and generally any mechanical music makers. Thanks for letting me be a
part of the group!

[ Welcome, Joel -- I'm glad that another phonograph fan is aboard.
[ Often an unknown song on a music box or music roll is identified
[ for us by a record collector with sharp ears and a good memory!
[ Have fun with MMD. -- Robbie
