Still Looking for Player Technicians
By John A. Tuttle

Hello All, I am still looking for more Player Piano Technicians for my
list. What I'm going to do is ask for information about technicians in
individual States. Today, I'm looking for Technicians from ALABAMA.

If you'd like to help me in my quest to find a Player Technician in
every state in the union, please check the list at:

    http://www.player-care.com/playtech.html#us_techs

Help me fill in the missing States!

Player-Care is also seriously considering hosting web pages for Player
Piano Technicians who are already listed on the Player Tech Page. This
will give those technicians who do not have a web site the opportunity
to present a larger 'picture' of who they are and what they do. The
yearly fee for this service will be $20.00. It will also give
Technicians who already have a web site another link to the rest of the
world from what I've been told is the most popular web domain on the
Internet dealing with Player Pianos.

The service will not include the ability to upload or download files
from my FTP but you will be pleased with the speed at which changes are
made should they be required. The maximum page size including all
associated files will be set at 200K for the time being. All
associated files will be housed in a separate directory but your new
web page address will be:

    http://www.player-care.com/yourname.htm

To insure continuous service, I have already paid my Domain server for
the entire year (2/1/98-2/1/99).

My efforts to install a dynamic on-line electronic catalog with secure
credit card ordering have been thwarted by the extreme costs involved.
The software alone costs over $3800 and since I'm not a programmer,
I'll have to wait until I can find a less expensive route. I'm in the
process of setting up a merchant account with my local bank so I can
accept credit card orders over the phone. Yesterday I spent almost an
hour explaining how the Internet works to the banks V.P. (Imagine that
-- 25 years in business and I have yet to take one credit card payment.
I've always relied on peoples honesty.)

If any of you can help me get this secure credit card thing going,
I would be most appreciative. I've already paid the set-up charges
to my domain server to provide the secure environment but frankly,
I can't figure out where to go from here.

In closing, I heard an interesting saying yesterday:

'If Hindsight were Foresight, there'd be no room for Regrets'

Musically,
John A. Tuttle (john@player-care.com)
