[ Apologies to Philippe; this was overlooked for Digest 980126.

Bravo to Paul Johnson for giving yesterday plenty of his information
about piano rolls, suppliers, etc. to everybody. (I printed it --
18 pages.)
Of course, with my ever evil-minded temper, I noticed that Europe and
non-English speaking countries are very far away from the United States
and England (Ach! these 20 miles width of the Channel), and although
there are a few celebrated Dutch and German names, many European names
seem to be missing (Hofbauer, Raffin, Charial, Odin, etc.).
Many of these missing names may be actually found on the advertising
pages of the MBSI (and other societies) publications. I expect the
Ludion to react and show that France is not a complete desert in the
field of mechanical music ! (they have themselves some competitors in
France too).
But anyway, Paul Johnson, you are not supposed to know everybody in
mechanical music, neither do I (it is nowadays impossible, and I do not
want to, otherwise there would be no fun discovering new names and new
talents).
For an almost (!!!) complete listing of societies and museums
throughout the world, and an agenda of events, consult the various
sites of the various societies, the MMD web site, and ... Musica
Mecanica of course ! (nearly 200 museums and 27 associations listed).
Bonne nuit,
Philippe Rouille (Paris, France)
