Hawaiian Tunes
By Tom Steuer

Speaking of Hawaiian tunes from "the era" -- I was just listening to a
tune with lyrics by a "New Yawka" who sings, "Hawaya doo-in' in Hawaya?
My hawt (heart) is blu-ah than the Bay of Kalua...", etc.

Seventy years later I don't get the kick about all those phony Hawaiian
tunes, but guess it was an offshoot of what was hot in vaudeville at
the time, or maybe because Hawaii must have been an exotic travel
destination.

Regards,

Tom Steuer
