Deagan Shaker Chimes

Could I get a better description of the shaker chimes that were
mentioned in this article? A friend of mine has a musical instrument
that sounds similar. It was produced by J. C. Deagan of Chicago.
Supposedly, there were only 50 of these instruments ever made. The
instrument ranges 2 octaves, starting on F. Each "shaker" has 4 notes
attached to it; the original note, 1 chime 1 octave up and 2 chimes 2
octaves above the original.

On the "middle C", is the only identifying markings: J. C. Deagan -
Chicago. England Patent May 189_. Canada patent May 21, 1901.
Additional patents pending. I am interested in ANY information anyone
could give me about this. We are not even sure we are playing the
instrument correctly. I would appreciate any information you could
give. Thanks!
