In response to Bruce Clark's inquiry regarding hand played player
organ recordings, Nelson Barden of Boston produced several cassettes
some years back of Edwin H. Lemare playing on a large Boston-area
Welte church organ he restored.
Nelson found and connected a roll changer to the instrument for
purposes of the recordings and the organ sounded absolutely beautiful.
A wonderful example of a romantic orchestral organ. Call Nelson at
617-964-0336 and tell him Dave Krall referred you.
By the way, even though it's not player related, I have a copy of
a video from CFCN Television, Calgary, Alberta entitled "Pipe Dreams
Opus 3623". It is the story of a (then) new Casavant organ built for
the Calgary Center for Performing Arts. It includes some history of
the organ including photos and narration of some mechanical instru-
ments, goes onto a little on theatre organs and then shows construction
at Casavant and installation in Calgary. Extremely well done and I
will be happy to loan it out to anyone interested in viewing it. Of
course you have to speak Canadian to understand it, eh.

[ Our greetings to Nelson Barden, too -- the "Barden & Clark
[ interviews" have been a big help in researching Ampico history
