Hello all! Hope you had a great New Year's celebration. Mine was
great fun! I have a new project (just what I need) and don't quite
know where to turn, so I thought the experienced group here could help.
I have a harpsichord (yep, a real one) of fairly recent manufacture
that I want to add MIDI to, so that I can make in play in ensemble with
my Disklavier (and whatever other wild things I may come up with in the
future). I can handle the sensing, MIDI interface circuits, etc. But,
I need to find a source for pusher solenoids that would be suitable for
the task. The application is _very_ similar to a piano, so I am sure
the solenoids from a Disklavier or PianoDisc unit would work.
My problem is I have no experience in these matters, and I don't want
to go off and spend the big bucks for something that is less than
optimal. Any suggestions on what to use would be greatly appreciated.
I would also be interested in any other suggestions you may have on
this fool's errand of a conversion. Please keep the flames below
medium rare, thanks. It's not a collectable instrument, so I have
no feelings of remorse at butchering it. What say you all?
Best Regards,
Jim Hendershot
