The 1927 Schulz I am working on appears to have stored for many years
with one end protected from light. The majority of the veneer has
darkened to almost black, so much, in fact, that some bright spark
decided to paint the fascia in what appears to be several layers of
black full gloss paint. The end that was protected is a rich dark
mahogany, highlighting beautiful grain.
I am slowly stripping it back and repairing the chipped veneer and
re-staining in mahogany before French polishing. The parts I have
completed look great, but it is a slow process.
