Concerning the length of messages I also believe that the whole
advantage of a daily digest is that it is proper and possible to write
what one would think needs to be written--no more and no less.
Personally, with an interest primarily in coin-operated machines of all
types, I am learning far more about player pianos than I thought I
would ever want to know. And yet, I find that I am learning all sorts
of incidental things that will or may be of use to me in some of this
correspondence. Unlike sound cassettes, CDs or videotapes I can "fast
forward" as quick as I like and scan the text without missing something
I might want to follow more closely. If it bores me I can whiz past
whilst others may follow the text in detail.
As far as the diversity is concerned that's another benefit, someone
may yet require information regarding specific coin-op machines or wish
to share some. Meanwhile the news of a Mechanical Museum in Sydney and
the fairground museum was of immense interest with me and I am sure
there will be other items of interest to come so I guess I'll stay with
it in spite of all the player contributions.

[ Player piano topics alone provide the "critical mass" to sustain the
[ the Digest. It's nice that we can also serve the smaller groups of
[ subscribers with other interests. (I haven't figured out _why_, but
[ it seems that a greater percentage of the player piano crowd is
[ "connected" and "on-line".) The happy result is that all of us are
[ learning a lot about other areas of mechanical musical instrument
[ collecting ! -- Robbie
