Hello to all. I just found this group on the Web and am looking forward
to learning more.
My husband, Greg, and I live in Northern California. I (we) have
been collecting music boxes for about 15 years. I prefer the larger
mechanisms but, like many collectors, cannot afford a great deal of
pieces out there. (But I like to dream!) In August we visited a
wonderful museum in Michigan called the Music House! Truly a wonderful
place to get lost in the machines and their music!
I am also a member of the MBSI and I am always telling others about the
joys of automated music. Would love to be able to encourage more young
people (we're in our early 30's) to learn about and experience the
same. Seems many people just don't appreciate the history and beauty
of these objects.
Thanks for listening. Just wanted to introduce my self and say hello.

[ Welcome aboard, Susan and Greg. Several months ago a MMD member
[ conducted an informal survey of the subscriber's ages, and sure
[ enough, the average age is late 40s (when the kids have gone!).
[ But, for example, Andy and Chris Taylor, in Missouri, are about
[ your ages, and are having a great time rebuilding player pianos
[ and making "Tempola" music rolls for them. So you're not alone
[ in your age group! Glad you've joined us. -- Robbie
