It won't help. The problem is that it's way easy to get AOL addresses
from within AOL - even easier than "harvesting" them from USENET.
You'll see the spam slacken off, and then pick up again just as bad as
ever.
You _can_ reduce the total spam - by getting an account with an ISP
that doesn't make it so easy to get your address, which is true for
most local ISP's, and then NEVER, EVER post to USENET from that
address. That's how I keep the spam away from my home address. No one
knows it but people who I _want_ to know it - and the scanner rejects
mail from anyone who isn't on the list. But since I don't post from
the address, the scanner hasn't rejected a message in months.
But spam is an insoluble problem. So long as it is legal, and so long
as people aren't charged for each message, you'll continue to get it if
anyone can find your address. That's life.
