FS: Old Dance Band Sheet Music
By Bob Conant

Dear MMDers,

I have a lot of sheet music that was used by several dance and concert
orchestras. The music dates from the 1890s through the 1950s with the
majority being between 1915 and 1945 or so. I haven't counted them but
I think there are over 800 pieces. They range in condition from new to
extremely poor and from complete to not very complete. Almost all
contain either a piano score or conductors score plus all the parts for
the orchestra. This includes brass (trumpet 1, 2, 3, trombone 1, 2,
tuba), woodwinds with multiple clarinet and saxaphone, strings with
multiple violin, viola and bass, plus percussion. As I say, not all
are complete but most of the major parts are there. Most of the music
is dance and popular tunes of the era with a little light classical
mixed in. Sorry, not many rags but there is a lot of other good stuff.

I got all this music from a lady at our church whose father was a local
orchestra leader in the 30s, 40s and 50s. He had gotten this from a
previous orchestra which he took over. There was at least one other
orchestra further back.

I would like to find a good home for all this. I would entertain offers,
both reasonable and unreasonable, but bear in mind that the shipping
would be a knee buckler. There are at least four big boxes and paper
weights a lot. I would have to repack it unless someone could pick it
up either here in Endicott, NY, or could arrange a mutual meeting place
somewhere. I would even be willing to donate it to a museum if someone
knew of a worthy recipient.

Any takers ? Any ideas of what I should do with this ? Send specific
responses directly to me.

Thanks,

Bob Conant
Endicott, NY
