Hi Y'all--Last afternoon, 11-23-97, there was a MBSI, Southern
California Chapter Gathering. It was at the castle-like home of Dick
and Diane Lloyd. The Lloyds have many pneumatic instruments and about 8
very nice music boxes, including a cylinder/hidden bell box with
considerable ormulou and a 4 tune, 6 " keywind cylinder box with a
rosewood case, that has a surprisingly boisterous volume for a box so
petite. A sumptuous buffet, mostly provided by the gathering's
attendees, was enjoyed by all.
The next three MBSI meetings for our chapter are:
1) The Canadas family-to be on 1-11-98 at their home in San
Bernardino,
2) A joint meeting with the AMICAns at the organ rally in
Carlsbad,CA on 4-4-98/4-4-98,
3) A gathering at my home on 6-28-98; this will be sort of an
educational seminar focusing on a few of the music boxes that I
have that have a fascinating history, and maybe I'll even show
the one with the secret panel on the bottom (the panel is from the
1940s, but the box is from 1880s).
If anyone would like further info on any of the meetings or on the MBSI,
