Seek Ludwig Player Action
By Eric Bergstrom

I've been asked by a friend in Wisconsin to see if there's any chance
of finding a stack and pumps for his Ludwig (New York) piano that
apparently was de-playered (new word?) years ago. It's an interesting
design, in that the vacuum was brought from the pump to the stack
through channels in the wood, instead of through a hose. The governor,
which is still there, uses a weight and a chain instead of a simple
spring.

He thinks it's a 1917 model. I figured the MMD is about his only shot
at playerizing (another new word?) this machine. Send me an e-mail, or
post it on the MMD if any of you player pack-rats have these parts, or
a dilapidated machine to be parted out. If not, we'll fit a Standard
or Gulbransen in there. Thanks!

Eric Bergstrom
