I can tell you about the Lakeside piano, Julee. The "Lakeside" was
built by the Cable-Nelson company of South Haven, Michigan. I used to
have one. I bought the piano at an auction at Marion, Illinois.
It was a BIG player piano, in pretty bad shape. I felt sorry for the
thing, sitting there all alone. My wife played a few chords on it and
said, "You don't want that piano." I said, "Yes, I do!" I ended up in
trouble for a while 'cause I bought it anyway. :-)
The Lakeside was a "commercial grade piano" but the piano was so tall
that it really had a powerful sound if in good shape. Most had
Simplex player actions but a few had Standard. Ours sounded awful so
we re-strung it and replaced the soundboard, and the piano came alive.
Bill Jelen now has the piano in Ohio. He informed me yesterday that
it's still going strong .
Bill walked me through what I thought was a major computer failure.
It seems that my 5-year-old changed the screen settings on the
computer, and that made the view screen go black. :-)
