In my recent trip to London, England, among the places I visited was
Harrod's, the gorgeous department store for the world's rich and
famous. Throughout the store were about 13-15 Yamaha Disklavier
pianos, all but one were uprights. All were playing exceedingly
well.
The answer came on the 5th (?) floor where a huge Yamaha
piano display appeared as if by magic, including a few more
Disklaviers.
Not quite a hotel lobby, but clearly the supplier (Yamaha) has a stake
in this store wide display. So, all the pianos were tuned, played with
reasonable volume, and disks were changed several times a day.
Music selection was varied. The one grand was installed between the
escalators in the Egyptian Hall, playing light classical music.
It was hard to go anywhere in the store without hearing one of these
pianos playing. Quite appropriate and impressive.
Regards,
Terry
