Hello Digesters. Julian Dyer said: " About half the Duo-Arts here in the
UK are of this type, grands included.
Maybe Julian or someone else can enlighten us as into which pianos the
Pedal-Electric Duo-Art (PEDA) system was fitted? I have seen reference
to Stecks, Webers and Steinways. Were all those pianos and/or player
actions actually made in the UK? Were any of them made and sold in
the U.S.?
The Steck Pedal-Electric Duo-Art I saw here was very European in style
(curved fallboard) and the name was inlaid in brass with quotation
marks on the lower left and upper right of the word Steck, in script
(,,Steck''), which made me think it was possibly German made. I couldn't
find any reference to country of origin.
Were these Gotha Steck pianos? Where else in the world did Aeolian make
players? I have vague recollections of seeing "Melbourne" on the frame
of an Aeolian piano in the past, but it might have been a Wertheim or
something else.
