Jody, My mother has Nicole Freres Cylinder Music box. After visiting
a local antique show, it sparked my interest in the music box that's
been sitting in a closet for years.
I use the Internet for information on what ever subject I happen to be
interested in. Unfortunately I was unable to locate any information about
my music box. I took me some time to happen across your newsletter web
site, since most searches on music boxes turned up gift/card shops and
such. So I can not say who lead me to your site.
If your newsletter proves to be helpful to my interest in music boxes,
I'd be happy to make a donation. I located a few books on the subject,
some of which I ordered, but so far I haven't been able to locate much
information on my box. I seen a collector selling a Nicole Freres music
box for $38k, which is somewhat larger then mine box. I learned from a
book that about 53,000 Nicole Freres were produced from 1839 to 1903.
They are one of the highest quality music boxes made and mine was made
about 1880. This sums up my total knowledge on music boxes; I'm eager to
learn more.
