Continuing my use of the world's finest research source: Does anybody
know if a Harvard Automatic Chime Bells still exists. It was made by
Harvard Automatic Machinery Company, located at 7803 Madison Avenue
in Cleveland, Ohio. It was patented and made by a man named Heene,
and it came out in 1898, just as the pianos were taking over.
It is a boxed machine that looks like an Encore banjo, except it plays
chime bells -- five minutes for a nickel. It must have driven the
bartenders nuts!
If anybody wants a copy of the catalog page for this magnificent device
send me a S.A.S.E. and ask for it. (Offshore mail, please send me an
addressed envelope, I'll stamp it.)
