Hi y'all -- One of my last messages suggested that we share our rare
music box info. I'll start.
I have a Lawater keywind cylinder music box, serial #7965. It was
manufactured 1830s-1840s, cylinder 10-1/8" long, one comb, 102 teeth,
tune card is octagonal brass with number 2048, and "L. Lawater a Geneve"
and the 6 tune names engraved on the brass. Number 7965 is at upper left
corner of bedplate, and on box bottom. "GB" and crown are on the box
lock.
Tunes are: Meet Me By Moonlight Alone, Bid Me Discourse, Softly Sleep My
Baby Boy, Canadian Boat Song, The Sun that Lights the Roses, and The
Gypsies Song. According to Ord-Hume, this is the only example of this
maker. Is there another one out there?
Enjoy
