In Reply to Nancy Fratti's comments on price guides...I say *right on
Nancy!* It is also my feeling that price guides have created serious
damage to the chances of buying anything at reasonable price.
For example in a not too recent price guide, I saw a Seeburg Celeste
priced at $6,000.00 In the same guide, there was a Seeburg Seleste...
priced at $400.00 These were the same instrument, only with the
incorrect spelling, and prices gleaned off auctioneers sales slips.
This is a good example of how inaccurate price guides can be! The
next time someone says to you... "it books for $ XXXX" tell them: "Book
prices are highly inaccurate and un-realistic Those who use them are
usually amateurs, who know little about the business!"
Let's start a campaign to discourage those who depend upon book
prices! It is time we got together and told it like it is!
