Hi everyone,
I'd like to know the value of a piece of roll making machinery I have
the opportunity to buy in an estate sale down in King Country. I believe
it is a Lebarjan, but is *not* one of the hand operated ones. There is
a large rack with about 12 steel tubes on which roll paper is put on,
then it goes through the machine. To be honest, I don't even know what
it does. It is in very poor condition, disassembled, and rusty. The
electric motor has entirely seized up and I was told by a former mechanic
it would never work again. The wiring and plug are both very old and
almost certainly shot, the paint is flaking off the steel plates, and
it hasn't been used for nearly 40 years. There is documentation with
it, including a letter from Lebarjan to the purchaser, including an
apology for not including the Lebarjan Demonstrator Roll. Another
machine mentioned in the letter are a word stenciling machine that
comes with 1 gallon of black ink. The letter is dated July 4 1924.
Also there are about 20 advertising leaflets for the Lebarjan Home
Perforator. There is also a separate sheet headed 'Using the Acme
Method of Making Rolls'.
There are also about 300 flanges and two huge rolls of blank paper.
The final clue is that the instruction book for the machine had a blue
cover (the owner has misplaced it) . Should I buy it? Can it be
restored? What is it worth?
Please let me know!
Regards,
RB Perry
