Introduction
By Ian McDonald

Hi, I'm Ian McDonald, white, 5th generation Australian male.

Totally hooked on mechanical music, bought my first music box in 1960 and
saw my first Ampico M&W Grand in 1964. I just had to have one! Since
then many instruments have come and gone. I have settled with 5 cylinder
music boxes which are musically outstanding.

1. 1846 6-air Nicole Freres playing the 5 movements of the Royal English
Quadrille by Louis Jullien + the Sailors Hornpipe. Does any one have a
Nicole playing the Royal Scottish or the Royal Irish Quadrille by
Jullien?

2. Early David Lecoultre 6-air including Introduction to Norma.

3. 6-air 6-bell B. A. Bremond ca. 1875 including a Tyrolienne dance,
La vie Parisienne; this box has a Steinway-like tone.

4. 12 Scottish airs, L'Epee box ca. 1890, large cylinder with a wonderful
organ-like tone.

5. Rare key-winder 6-air pianoforte box by Dimier Freres. including the
Thomas Tallis Canon.

My Piano is a 1920 German Steinway rosewood case upright with the British
pedal Pianola & electric full Duo-Art (pedal electric). Over the years I
have gathered a large collection of Duo-Art and Piano rolls.

I went on line in May and have spent many happy hours reading and saving
MMD, even contacted some of you -- my subscription is in the post!!

P.S. You will find me in the back of Silver Anniversary Collection
MBSI 1974, p950.
