In a letter dated April 13, 1970, Alan Hoover, son of Herbert Hoover,
states that the family had a Chase piano that had been presented to his
mother during their White House years.
He remembers Ignace Paderewski enjoying the ability to manipulate the
controls to bring out the musical effects when the automatic reproduction
was turned off. This was a Welte reproducing piano. This piano was
passed down to Alan's son.
This information is in "Treasures of Mechanical Music" on page 117.
Of course, the Hoover's could have had two pianos.
