Aeolian Orchestrelle with Duo-Art Player
By Joe Hanulec

My good friend Walter Kehoe has confused two Duo-Art Orchestrelles.

The first one is a two-manual and pedal that could play 58-note, 116-
note and the 176-note Duo-Art rolls. It was purchased by Jack Gans
from John Farnsworth in the mid 1970s. It was partially restored by
John but I felt that it never played to its potential. After Jack
passed away it was sold to Rick Smith's Piano Exchange where it
now sits partially disassembled. The Duo-Art roll did indeed pull
the stops and operate the swell.

Walter Kehoe and I first saw the second Duo-Art Orchestrelle at an
auction near Albany NY in the mid 1970s. My recollection is that it
had only one keyboard that folded into the case. It was purchased by
Bill Edgerton, subsequently was advertised for sale by Bowers and later
by Bill Edgerton when he acquired the assets of the Bowers business.
I don't know where it is now but the folding keyboard feature should
identify it. I don't know if this unit could play the three roll
types.
