Greetings, Having followed the MMD now for a few months, we feel it's
time to introduce ourselves. I am Wayne Johnston and my best friend and
partner is Diane DeTar. We are Player Piano Technicians in the San Diego
area.
Diane has been a player piano technician for over 20 years and I have
been working with her for the last three years. I was a technical and
graphic artist by trade and a woodworker by hobby. I was also an
aircraft machinist in the military. Together Diane and I make a good
team. We restore old player pianos from the turn of the century
(including reproducers), repair and restore newer pneumatic players, and
install Pianomation systems into grand and upright pianos.
The recent MMD asked about the value of nickelodeons. We have a Hupfeld
Phonoliszt. Would anyone out there know the value of it? The case is in
exceptionally good condition but the player needs to be rebuilt. All the
parts are there, including the original German 220V motor. We really are
interested in selling this and would consider any offers.
We've gotten a lot of very useful information from these MMDigests. This
is a wonderful way of communicating between enthusiasts and technicians.
You will be hearing from us again.

[ Welcome to MMD, Diane & Wayne! I hope that you both have met Mike
[ Ames and enjoyed his Solana Instruments Museum. Mike has a Phonoliszt-
[ Violina player under restoration right now; maybe he can advise how to
[ sell your instrument. Please write sometime and tell us of your
[ adventures installing Pianomation systems in pianos. -- Robbie
