Seek Player for Residence Pipe Organ
By Dick Beery
Please note that I am posting this to both the PIPORG-L and MMD lists so
the information is pretty general. I have been working on player pianos
as a hobby for about 20 years. Pretty much self taught.
Its always been a dream to have player pipe organ and I have recently
built a music room with that idea in mind. Well I found the organ
finally and will be moving it sometime during October. Its currently
crated up in all sorts of pieces and looks to be a fun project. It does
not have a player mechanism so I am looking for recommendations and
sources for one. Preferably one that needs rebuilding...
Now for my main question! I know I wanted a pipe organ and I really
enjoy them however I am a novice on their operation just like I was on
pianos 20 years ago. I have joined ATOS but haven't been able to attend
any meetings yet.
I need recommendations for suitable reading and technical resources.
I need to get educated. I realize that this is a multi-year project so I
would appreciate any advice/info anyone can give. I need to learn what
all the different stops mean, different types of pipe chests, electronic
relays, etc.
I am an electrical engineer by trade and love working with my hands so am
confident about doing the project provided I can find enough sources of
information. TIA to anyone who can help me.
