20-Note Reed Organ by Peter Trueman
By Melvyn Wright
With reference to the discussion about the Raffin 20 note reed organ:
Although Raffin no longer manufactures this organ, readers may be
interested to know that the English organ builder Peter Trueman has been
making a similar organ to the Raffin for the last 5 years.
Peter's version has 26 notes, but it *does* play the standard 20-note
rolls as well, because the two scales are compatible with each other.
The organ has two rows of 13 pallets on the front, as opposed to the
Raffin's single row of 20. Many people believe that Peter's organ is
superior to the Raffin in terms of its responsiveness and clarity.
Peter Trueman appears on-line in the British Organ Grinders Association's
