Three letters on this subject were included in MMD 970823.
1. Jeffrey Borinsky's letter discusses Kol Nidrei rolls. Unfortunately,
I have bought and listened to 2 or 3 versions of Kol Nidrei, and they are
all pretty bad. I don't think it's a piano problem but, rather, an
arrangement and melody problem.
2. D. L. Bullock's letter is really interesting, but I am not sure his
plan to copy them and make them available is "on the front burner" --
which leads into item 3. below.
3. Philip Dayson's letter mentions a QRS roll catalogue that has over 60
of these rolls listed. I hope there is a way he can get this distributed
to those interested. More importantly, his idea of joining or lending
rolls to a roll recutting program is very interesting, and may tie in to
D. L. Bullock's plan.
4. Finally, and at the risk of wanting the impossible, has anyone seen
any of these rolls made for reproducing pianos, particularly the Duo-Art?
Although this is my first submission to the group, I read MMD every day
and really enjoy it. However, since I am a collector and not a restorer,
much of the very technical stuff goes right over me. Yet, I think it's a
great vehicle for the technicians. Keep up the fine work!

[ Thanks for writing, Rich. I'm curious about all the "ethnic rolls",
[ produced mostly by QRS, I believe. What category of English-language
[ songs do they correspond with? Perhaps researchers Bob and Ginny
[ Billings could write about this. Are the Jewish music rolls pre-
[ dominantly religious, or secular? -- Robbie
