Robbie, You reminded me of a great song I heard on the Dr. Demento
radio show years ago: "The Freckle Song." It has a rhyme-substituted-
for-something-else, as you can see:
She's got freckles on her but_!_ she is nice
And when she's in my arms it's paradise
She was born in Hackensack
She made a fortune on her career
She's got freckles on her but_!_ she is nice
Notice it is written with an implied pause after "her", yet sung with
a pause after "but(t)".
Be careful, you're going to start a hilarious thread here! There must be
hundreds of comic songs with this sort of lyrics; I have several such
folios, such as "Songs My Father Taught Me (Never To Sing)".
Mike Schwimmer loaned me two of these folios years ago. (You could figure
that Mike would have something like this ! ;-)
Cheers, Rob DeLand
