Colin and group,
I asked Harvey about this and he says that he thinks his was built very early
in the series and it plays a special 14 tune North Tonawanda style L roll.
Most later machines played A rolls. Harvey says his is the only one he knows
of that plays the NT rolls. He says that the North Tonawanda rolls make more
use of the functions built into the piano than an A roll would. Until
recently, he did not dare play the machine, even though it is fully restored,
because of the very fragile condition of his rolls. He has since been able to
get someone in Germany to make new exact copies of his old rolls so now the
piano is in fine playing condition.
Question: Is the Musee Mechanique in San Fransisco the same as the Cliff
House ? or is it a separate collection ?
Thanks,
