Introduction
By Dan Armstrong

Greetings to all, my name is Dan Armstrong and I figured that it is about
time to introduce myself since I have been in receipt of mail from MMD
for the past month. I live in Pine River, Minnesota, up where nine
months of the year is usually quite cold.

I'm retired U.S. Navy, where for twenty years my only contact with
pneumatics was in pneumatic boiler control systems, which incidentally is
very similar to player piano pneumatics, with the exception that it uses
low pressure air rather than vacuum.

Prior to entering the Navy, I worked for about 8 months at Tom Bunch
Piano Co. in Denver CO, rebuilding player of every sort imaginable, so
when I retired, I started my own piano tuning and repair business
specializing in player pianos, naturally.

Right at this time, in my collection that I'm restoring for sale
purposes, I have: An Autopiano, circa 1910-11, Kingsbury with Carola
Inner Player, circa 1912-1913, Gulbransen, circa 1925-26, Marlboro (just
acquired today, no idea of the player mfg. yet) serial # 84915 think
possibly it is about 1915 from what previous owners have told me, the
Pierce Piano Atlas has no year listings for it, and a Beckwith, circa
1933. I am also currently restoring a 1917-18 Aeolian for a customer
who lost his basement shop to the Grand forks flood. Whew -- That took
longer than I thought it would.

I really like what I've seen so far on this site. Bear in mind that I'm
in the market for rolls; I only have about 350 serviceable rolls at this
time and I like to provide rolls to my customers when they purchase a
restored player from me.

I also have a web site that is not very well developed at this time;
I spend most of my time in the shop instead of on the computer.
However, if you wish to visit, the address is

    http:/www.uslink.net/~pianodan/index.html

Again, the info here is really great!

[ Welcome to MMD, Dan. We followed the saga of the big Red River
[ flood earlier this year, and were quite saddened when we learned
[ of the damage to fine instruments. It's nice that folks like you
[ are helping to get them playing again. :) -- Robbie
