The MBSI National meeting in Seattle was _wonderful_! It's always
good to meet all the faces behind the phone calls and e-mail! But ...
I had 57 e-mail messages when I came home today. I logged onto Juno
got the messages, then, because I wanted to be sure to have them all,
I started to printing them one by one, to be read later.
After the fourth message, my computer froze and I couldn't get an
arrow on my mouse cursor. I had no choice but to reboot and --
you guessed it -- lost all the messages, except the four I had printed.
Does anyone have an answer to this dilemma? Is it the Juno software
or the Win95 computer? It isn't the first time it's happened, as you
know. Is there a solution?
I apologize to any MMD'ers that won't receive an answer to questions,
but if you'll e-mail me again, I'll do my best to answer.
E-mail is great, but, as you can see, it does have its drawbacks.

[ Editor's note:
[
[ Nancy, I'll let the group answer too, but I'm going to make a couple
[ of side comments.
[
[ 1) You've had this problem repeatedly. Have you had any
[ discussions with Juno about it ?
[
[ 2) Most of the "modern" mail programs retrieve mail and store it
[ in a file. Thus there's a permanent record of the files retrieved on
[ disk -- and usually even if the system crashes. Perhaps its time to
[ try a pay-for-service vendor ?
[
[ 3) Inasmuch as you have your own Web site, isn't it time you
[ had more than just e-mail access to the 'net? (See last sentence
[ of #2, above.)
[
[ 4) What is your machine's hardware and software configuration?
[ I.e., what CPU (386, 486, Pentium), amount of RAM, amount of hard disk,
[ versions of software, which version of Windows 95, and what version of
[ anything else you would have running while running the Juno Software.
[
[ It's not unlikely that the problem is that you are running out of main
[ memory. I've had problems with Windows 95, running Quickbooks Pro,
[ with 32 Meg of RAM. (I have to admit that my office manager had 78
[ reports open simultaneously...!)
[
[ If more RAM would help (even if you consider it a work-around), it's
[ cheap these days (less than $5/megabyte).
[
[ Looking forward to hearing from you,
[

[ My Macintosh struggles with ancient software I nonetheless enjoy, and
[ has crashed several times when I've run other programs simultaneously
[ with e-mail sessions. Fortunately, the Eudora Pro e-mail program
[ hasn't lost _anything_ when this happens. It helps that my ISP has an
[ equally smart e-mailer, too, which preserves incomplete transfers
[ until I log-on again. -- Robbie
