Visiting Prague
By Larry Greenfield

In Prague there is the International Hotel across the street from the
truly historic Jewish Quarter. In the hotel main dining room is a
19-7/8" upright Polyphon with matching lower cabinet. Only one person
can play it for you, so ask; I think it is the restaurant manager.

Also in the Jewish Quarter, at the corner of the Pinkas and Maisel
synagogues, there are two outside high wall clocks. One is a regular
western clock, and the other is a clock with Jewish numbers, and the hands
turn in a counterclockwise direction, since Hebrew is read from right to
left.

There is also a tremendous automated clock with many figures in the main
Prague square which plays hourly; get there about 20 minutes ahead. You
can pay to go up the tower to see the mechanics, but watch your money at
the ticket counter. Near the Jewish Quarter is a Kosher restaurant and
across the street is a great Indian restaurant.
