Animated-Figure Boxes
By Damon Atchison

I went to a Musee Mechanique and I saw a lot of nickelodeons and quite a
few animated boxes of dolls that would put on a show for a quarter.

One was a Chinese Opium Den with moving dolls, a dragon's head, and a
skeleton that popped out of a closet. I thought that this was very funny
and entertaining and I wondered what these were called?

Thanks MMD members for the _great_ advice on what to see in San
Fransisco! I saw two great things there, first I heard the powerful and
sweet sound of the Castro Theater organ, then I had a great time seeing
the vast assortment of nickelodeons and arcade machines in the "Cliff
House".
