Ragtime Automation Roll Reader
By Andy Taylor

Hi all, Craig Brougher was 'right on' about his comments and questions
about the Ragtime Automation roll reader.

I can't help being hard-pressed not to judge the product, after the
really bad experience I had with their other stuff. However If it's a
good product I'd like to know.

I did find out why the valves on my player stack in my "Tinkertoy
Special" were leaking. The Ragtime Automation tracker bar is molded
plastic. The upper and lower rows of openings on these are far too
restrictive. With another tracker bar in place the valves seated fine.

The pianos they sell with the new cases are indeed beautiful. I could
not build a piano case like that myself; that I do admire about them. I
just think they should restore the core of these pianos, before placing
them before the unsuspecting public, especially at the prices they are
asking. I'd much rather have a good piano with a rough case than
vice-versa.

If the roll reader is a good product, I'd like to have one, but Mr.
Calkins will have a much harder sell this time. (He probably hates me
by now.)

I am the luckiest guy in the world: Chris can do any restoration job
I can do, and she enjoys it, too! Both of us together restrung the
"everything piano" in about a half day.
