Rolls to MIDI
By Robert Hopp

I think I found out an easy and cheap way to convert rolls of only one
standard to MIDI in using parts of my "Amadeus" software. In the
beginning, this system was developed to treat "multi-standard" but I
thought about the problem and it is possible to bring out limited
versions using only one scale. This would be much easier and cheaper to
realise, and I think of a device either in a suitcase with electrical
driven spools or another snapped on the trackerbar to use the piano
itself for moving and guiding the paper and speed control. MIDI is
delivered real-time and a sequencer or MIDI recorder has just to be
connected by a MIDI cable.

To make an estimation of cost, I would need to know how many people are
ready to order now to and how many would buy later.

I think that prices should be lower than 5000 DM and "Hopptical Roll
Reading Systems" could be delivered still this year. So please write
(email) to me and tell me your intentions.

To configure a direct output to Disklavier and PianoDisc , I would need
to have a MIDI table and a MIDI file of these instruments, could somebody
send me that ?

The problem with real-time output is that "staccato" perforations need to
be converted in long notes by a special MIDI software and I never faced
to do this real-time, I don't even know if this is possible !
