Brian, I have recut about 20 Welte licensee rolls, including pop stuff
and some great, heavy classics that I converted from Red Welte originals.
I'll mail you a catalog when I get home tonight.
I bet Keystone has some Welte recuts on hand, they just didn't make any
new ones for the current catalog, so they didn't bother listing any.
This is just my guess and I could be wrong, but if I were you I'd still
give them a try. Call or write for additional info.
Other Welte recut sellers include Robin Pratt and Paul Johnson, who are
members of MMD. Bennet Leedy also makes good Welte recuts. He's in
Michigan, and all of us advertise regularly in AMICA. Every recut
mentioned here is made by Custom Music Rolls in Texas, so the quality is
excellent.
Why not look for an original Ampico if that's what you prefer and leave
the Welte intact? Please don't despair about the rolls, there are really
quite a few good recuts available, and there is a lot of outstanding
music for the Welte system -- the Welte catalog is (literally _and_
figuratively) larger than Ampico or Duo-Art. I hope to have another list
out before the end of the year, and I bet Paul and Bennet will too.
Maybe Robin as well.
Regards,
Rob DeLand (dba BluesTone Music Rolls)
