Hi Ronald -
We have just started browsing through MMD digests, and noticed that you have a
Telektra. We are also owners and collectors of Telelectric and Telektra. We
have an operating Telelectric (doubly unusual because it has "Telelectric" cast
into the harp). We also have a Knabe Telelectric that stutters along a bit, but
badly needs restoration throughout. We have a Telektra console and keybank and
some Telektra rolls that will be the subject of a future restoration project.
Is your piano really a Telektra? That is, the 88 note type? Those in operating
condition are quite rare, due to the need to replace some of the white metal
parts that have deteriorated with time. Ours is no exception. The 65 note
Telelectric units usually can be restored without a lot of trouble. What make
of piano is your unit in?
My wife Ginny is compiling a catalog of Telelectric and Telektra rolls. This
will eventually be part of volume 6 of the Rollography we have been working on
over the years. So far she has a database of about 5000 titles. There are a
lot of holes, so we are interested in knowing what others have in their
collections. There are many cases where boxes and rolls have become separated,
or the box label has become illegible. If you have any in this category we may
be able to help you determine what they are.
If you would send us a list of the numbers (no need for titles at this stage) of
the rolls and/or/boxes we can start from there and ask for any missing data
later. If you have any duplicates, note them, as we are always interested in
trades.
Hope to hear from you soon,
Bob Billings
