Has anyone had a peek or seen the NEW Digital (with acoustic violin)
contraption due out of Story and Clark Piano Company. Of course it
has no resin wheels etc., no roll player, but is an attachment to your
MIDI record in.out on piano. It looks interesting, and it does have
an interesting price.
Another item of interest to our MMD folk is their new "presto digitation",
which, in the case of a rather totally terrible grand piano action
(and maybe an upright), completely replaced the entire key action
a,hammers and all with a digital keyboard. Of course a recommendation
here is to do a starlight check on your sound board, poins, agraffes
and such things that would remain in your dying piano. I don't think
I can reliably report the price, but it is under $2000, and will work
with a record from a remote pipe or electronic organ. Their line of
nickelodeons is about ready to hit the market, if they have not done so
by now.
Drop me a note, ...I am not a dealer or sales person, ...and I may be
able to give more info on this. It is interesting to note the price
of the old Mills Violano Virtuoso and the Double Mills (n.b. the Story
and Clark will be a Virtuoso Violin)..it is noted that the nickel slot
is missing in the upper right, and it seems to be a "dollar changer".
Will these instruments get waylaid with the poor acoustics we had with
the olden WurliTzer Harp and the Banjo.
A personal estimation on the new virtuoso violin (it has a bow with it)
is from 9k-13k.
Nice to see the list again. Have been hospitalized for some time, and
I see Jody and Rob are still up and at it. After I get the hospital
bill, definitely, a supporting donation is in order.
This way we get more pictures (?), and it may run on Linux, right Robbie ?

[ Editor's Note:
[
[ Bill, welcome back!
[
[ Robbie and I are working on trying to find ways to make the
[ editing easier, and to try to find ways to "attach" images,
[ sound bites, etc., that are submitted. This is not an invitation
[ for 20 letters reminding us about MIME-encoded attachments. Its
[ really a question of editing style and distribution convenience.
[
[ We've recently acquired an inexpensive color scanner, so I hope
[ to be able to start putting images of my own. Once I figure out
[ how to work it, I'm willing to do scans for subscribers and put
[ things up on the Web site.
[
[ I spoke with Dave Saul today about his posting (elsewhere in this Digest)
[ and he has expressed an interest in submitting one or more drawings
[ to go with his note. He has a scanner and is going to try sending
[ me a scan. I'll put it up on the Web site and post the URL.
[
[ Robbie and I are both putting together experimental Linux systems.
[ There's been very little message traffic in the "computer support group"
[ we started up on the side (all interested MMD subscribers may join
[ by sending a "subscribe computer support" to rollreq@foxtail.com).
[ Robbie and I are hoping to get some of the interesting sound things
[ which [ work on Windows running on Linux. My NEW Windows system
[ crashes a lot; I'm hoping that switching to Linux will help that
[ situation.
