Ampico "B" Need parts, Help, Advice
By Randy Hayno
I just purchased a 1930 5'8" Knabe Ampico "B" in an Walnut case. It's
in great unrestored playing condition. The original tubing is still
there and it reproduces good. BUT, The bottom covers for the drawer
are missing and the walnut front piece on the drawer is damaged on the
left side. Also there seems to have been some sort of cover on the
pneumatic stack besides the belly cloth. Can anyone give me an idea of
what was originally there? Does anyone have a junk drawer that has
been robbed of so many parts that they would part with the wooden frame
or parts of same? If so please E-mail me and if you like I will call
you if you include your number.
Also I have read discussions about test rolls. Who makes the best test
roll for this piano and who is presently making rolls? Is the David
Saul book still in print? If so who sells it?
Thanks in advance, Randy Hayno
