Robbie,
I was using rubbing alcohol the other day with a bottle cap that
I used with PVC-E. Much to my surprise, a softened glob of glue came
out! I have since done some tests and have found that covering the glue
that you want removed with a saturated cloth and waiting for a few
minutes breaks down the glue to the point where it may be wiped off.
Wait time depends on the thickness of the glue.
This method seems to me to be more benign and cheaper than super glue
remover.
The rubbing alcohol is the one that is 30% water. Will stronger
alcohol proportions work better? I don't know. Will other alcohols
work? I don't know that, either. I will experiment some more.
This may be the answer to the vexing problem of dried PVC-E. Try it
and let the rest of us know the results.
