One of my few musical talents is to be able to play a reasonable tune on
an old 6-chord zither that I "re-constructed" many years ago out of what
looked like a pile of firewood and fencing wire from a country auction.
Rebuilding "The Australian Piano Harp - Made in Germany" was the easy
part; playing it was a total mystery, until I visited Germany and
discovered the zither "cheat sheets" that the locals use!
Perhaps because of all this foolishness, I am now interested in buying a
"Triola" roll-playing zither, as illustrated on page 356 of the Bowers
encyclopaedia. Can anyone give me an idea of the availability of these
instruments in the US (or elsewhere), and what I would expect to pay for
a Triola in either working, restorable, or "firewood" condition? (And, of
course, the rolls to suit). Many thanks,
John Wolff
