Bruce, don't panic. Get in first - word up the music teacher, and take
some of the bits to school instead. My kids' (primary) school usually
starts the day with a "show-and-tell" session, and you should see their
faces when I turn up with an organette, or a music box, or a gramophone,
or even a hand-cranked calculator to demonstrate.
Kids are fascinated by these things - how can they possibly work with no
batteries, no motors, no microchips? With the teacher's cooperation it
can turn into quite an enthusiastic lesson on science, music, or even on
what life was like pre-electricity, radio, TV, computers... It all helps
to spread the awareness of these marvellous mechanical antiques.
