Herbert Miller asked about an update on Play-Rite.
Play-Rite is temporarily out of the stock 88 note roll business.
They may or may not stock rolls in the future. The decision has not yet
been made. They still can, however, cut complete runs of 88 note or
reproducing rolls to order, although that would be 18 copies, I believe.
Their custom roll manufacturing continues as before on other types
of rolls. The Mills Violano rolls are being cut now: we have just
shipped 11 different rolls to our project subscribers and have added
seven more titles to our stock (we now have over 30 different rolls
available for sale). The next rolls scheduled on this perforator are
Mills Expression (and Horserace) piano rolls in about a year from now.
They are also doing Hupfeld Pan rolls for another project at this
time. When those rolls are completed (in about 6 months maybe) the next
rolls to be done on that perforator are the 176 note DuoArt reproducing
pipe organ rolls. I believe this will be the first time 12 to the inch
rolls have been recut since the manufacturers of the organs originally
did them. The machinery and electronic interface have been completed to
do these rolls.
