Last Monday, I dropped in on a local antique dealer with a large
barn type warehouse of some good stuff and not so good stuff. As he
spotted me walking in, he came over saying, "Terry, I'm so glad you
dropped in, I've just acquired a lovely player piano in absolutely
perfect condition, doesn't need a thing done! Come, I show you...."
The piano turned out to be a late 20's Canadian made Lesage, with all
its player mechanism intact. Outer case with a touch of nice
styling, tolerable finish, otherwise a simple conventional
upright foot pumped player piano. It's only claim to fame was the
presence of a transposer lever.
Upon pumping like crazy, the roll could be persuaded to move ever so
slowly, a few notes would tinkle here and there, and with a big
expectant smile, his eyes glazed over with $$$$ signs. It was priced
at $3,900 (Can $$).
It's still there.
Regards,
Terry
