Seek: Gears for Kimball Model AB Player
By Larry Fisher

Hi all, I need the reroll gear for the model AB Kimball player. I've
contacted Kimball, they sent me to Dancing Ivories in NY and he hasn't
got one, or so he doesn't think so. He wants me to send the only sample
I've got to compare to parts he has laying around. That is indeed a last
resort.

I've contacted a few gear companies around town and it seems the only
alternative is to have one made. I'm hoping some one out there has one
laying around that they'd be happy to find a home for.

For what it's worth, I've counted the teeth and measured the diameter.
Since the gear is worn pretty much evenly all the way around, I have to
guess at the diameter to be around 32-3 mm. That would make it 3:1 ratio
with the smaller gear (11 mm) that is pressed into the center of this
larger gear. This large gear has 50 teeth and the smaller has 18 teeth
at a "42" pitch. The larger is made of red fibrous synthetic stuff that
the gear people said the name of numerous times and I can't remember at
this time. The smaller is made of brass.

I've set the bait, and dropped the line into the Cyberpond, now all I do
is sit and wait.

Please email me directly or call the number listed in my sig line.

[ Larry, what is the center-to-center distance between the two gears?
[ If the gear-ratio is not critical, it's likely that a replacement
[ pair of gears, from catalog stock, can be fitted. -- Robbie
