Oerlein Organs, Mainz, Germany
By Ron Bopp

Oerlein Organs? Franz Oerlein of Mainz, Germany (on the Rhine River, not
too far from Frankfurt) has a small shop in his basement where he
produces exquisite works of art. He usually makes only a few organs of
each style. They are book operated and he makes his own organ books with
a really neat book producing machine (I would love to have it).

His organs consists of the traditional organ in a case; some with
figurines at the top of the case; a organ played by an automaton who also
beats a drum while playing; a clown playing an organ while looking at the
crowd at the same time; a flute player with bird -- the flute is fingered
and played while the bird chirps away at the same time, in tune with the
flute; and others.

His works are quite expensive. I don't have his address but contact can
be made through Siegfried Wendel of Rudesheim, Germany who is a member of
the MBSI.
